Tesla's commitment to job creation in New York has been a topic of intense political pressure and scrutiny. Despite threats of fines, subsidy clawbacks, and dealership license revocations from lawmakers, Tesla has surpassed its job commitments at Giga New York in Buffalo. The company reported over 3,460 statewide jobs at the end of 2025, meeting the benchmark tied to its dollar-a-year lease at the state-built facility. This achievement comes as a relief to Tesla, as it has been working to ease tensions with local authorities. However, some lawmakers remain skeptical, questioning the reported job figures and even sponsoring legislation to revoke Tesla's dealership licenses in New York. Despite these challenges, Tesla has also made significant strides in its vehicle-to-grid (V2G) program in Texas, allowing eligible Cybertruck owners to send energy back to the grid during high-demand events and receive compensation on their utility bills. This initiative, dubbed Powershare Grid Support, is part of Tesla's push into vehicle-to-everything energy sharing. Additionally, Tesla has begun hiring efforts for its new $200 million Megafactory in Brookshire, Texas, a manufacturing hub expected to employ 1,500 people by 2028. The facility will build Tesla's grid-scale Megapack batteries, further expanding the company's energy storage footprint.
